Canna Lilies - What do I need to do with my Cannas over the winter if I live in a colder climate?
After the frost has blackened the plant, cut back and discard the foliage, remove them from the ground, rinse away soil residues, and allow to air dry. Pack the Cannas with peat moss, perlite or dry vermiculite and store in a crate that air can circulate through. The crate can be kept in a cool basement or garage between 45 and 55 degrees until spring.

Hardy Perennial Hibiscus are one of the last perennials to sprout or break dormancy. There are also differences between varieties, with some growing faster than others. It is not unusual to have one or two break dormancy two weeks after their counterparts. Please be patient because once Hibiscus sprout they will grow rapidly. Warm weather will accelerate this.
