Its spreading habit can be contained if provided a barrier. Medium-sized, green leaves cover the herb, reaching 18 to 24-inches tall and wide. Tiny, cone-shaped, lavender flowers shoot up from the center of the plant for a charming late summer show. Harvest mint prior to flowering for best taste. The flavorful, aromatic leaves can be harvested when the plant has reached approximately 3 to 4-inches in height, typically in late summer. Harvest by trimming up to one third of a stem, then use the leaves as desired. There are endless culinary and ornamental uses for 'Chocolate' mint! Leaves can be crushed, chopped or dried for use in beverages, desserts or essential oils. Its rich, attractive foliage adds beauty and texture to patio planters and window boxes. A vigorous grower! This overachiever is best planted in areas where it can spread. If spreading is not desired, keep the herb contained by planting in containers, bordered areas or by planting in a container then submerging the pot in the ground.
